Identity
The Artemide Group (certification ISO 9001 and ISO 17025) is one of the global leaders of the residential illumination sector and high end professionals.
Situated at Pregnana Milanese, the Artemide Group has an ample international distribution presence in which the single brand showrooms sprouts in the most important cities in the world and the “shop in shop” in the most prestigious illumination and furniture shops.
Founded in 1960s, Artemide is one of the most known illumination brands in the world.
Known for its “The Human Light” philosophy, Artemide is nowadays synonym with design, innovation and made in Italy.
Artemide has contributed to the history of the international design with products like Eclisse (1967, from Vico Magistretti), Tolomeo (1989, from Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina) and Pipe (2004, from Herzog & De Meuron), all showed at the Compasso D’oro Awards.
In 1994 Artemide received The “Compaso D’oro” career Award and European Design Prize In 1997.
The Artemide Lamps are considered on an international level as Design Icons of contemporary design; they are exhibited in most museums of modern art and design collections. (MoMA – New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art – New York, Victoria and Albert Museum – Londra, Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnica – Milano, Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna – Roma, Parigi, Centre Georges Pompidou ecc.)
Artemide Has Always Collaborated With the most famous international designers and actively promotes workshops with design schools ( for example the Royal college of Art, London ) in order to find the best young talents.
History
Founded in 1960 by Ernesto Gismondi, President, the Artemide Group is based in Pregnana Milanese and operates through 24 controlled and related companies and a distribution network that includes almost 60 single-brand showrooms in major cities all around the world.
The Artemide products are distributed in 83 different Countries. With 5 manufacturing plants in Italy, France, Hungary, and the US, 2 glassworks, and 2 R&D facilities in Italy and in France, the Group currently employs about 700 units, including 59 involved in R&D activities, thus confirming the primary role of innovation as a key factor for the Group’s success.
Factory / Research Centre
Research and testing on lighting concept, innovation and technology in light control and management, great attention to environmentally sustainable materials and, in general, to ecological requirements, and a deep-rooted devotion to design are values which distinguish Artemide and represent the ideas on which his products are based.
In the heart of this activity is the Giacinto Gismondi centre of innovation in Pregnana Milanese.
With it optics division, electronics projects, materials and luminary sources, the centre develops and sharpens every new product from concept to industrial production, in order to guarantee best results in regards to quality and international standards.
Some of the latest lines of products with hi-end technology developed at the innovation centre are the range of lamps with LED light sources, the Metamorforsi range and the MY WHITE LIGHT range.

The Research for excellence in product performance has always been a key factor for the success of the company. The front line of the Artemide research all pieces that create an illumination fitting:
- innovative illumination source;
- the use of eco compatible materials;

With a wide experience in using LEDs for indoor light fixtures, Artemide exploits LED technological innovation also for outdoor light fixtures.

Environment

Sustainable development is a value shared by Artemide, a firm that has always devoted specific attention to sustainability in terms of eco-design, since it is well aware that design plays a fundamental role in the control and limitation of the impact that a product may have on the environment throughout its life cycle.
Within a policy of reduction of energy consumption and in advance of the coming into force of the ErP directive, Artemide’s commitment in terms of eco-sustainability takes concrete shape through the promotion of its leading products in new versions with low energy consumption.
Economic and environmental advantages deriving from using LEDs are:
- high light efficiency
- low consumption
- reduced CO2 emissions
- very long operation time
- short maintenance cycles
Moreover, solid-state lighting (SSL), which distinguishes LEDs, ensures an excellent shock and vibration resistance. Besides development of excellent optical systems and selection of last-generation LEDs, Artemide focuses on heat dissipation systems and advanced electronic components, absolutely necessary for a correct use of this technology.
To ensure a correct perception of spaces and architectural elements, Artemide products offer a range of three different colour temperatures: warm white, neutral white e cold white.
To obtain suggestive performances, Artemide offers RGB profiles and projectors using light and colour management protocols such as DALI and DMX, by which it is possible to create.
The Human Light
The Human Light is the guiding philosophy of Artemide, its way to imagine and design light, a revolutionary intuition that radically changed the way of conceiving lighting equipment based on man and his well-being.
Artemide’s products are much more than highly refined design objects, ensuring a top technical performance – they are objects born from man’s experience to satisfy man’s needs.
Since the 1990s, with the launch of the The Human Light philosophy, promoted by Carlotta de Bevilacqua, Artemide has changed the way to conceive and develop its products.
The guiding idea was to start from people’s needs in terms of light, and understanding first and foremost how to respond to individual needs in the different spaces and stages of life.
With The Human Light Artemide intends to illuminate space, as well as man’s activities and needs inside a space.
The goal is both simple and extremely complicated: turn light into a means to improve the quality of life.
The Human Light is a new way to conceive light to support people in their daily activities, complying with their moods, and promoting their well-being.
The Human Light means placing the competence of Artemide at the service of man and responding to the need for flexibility and adaptability with the utmost visual accuracy and the minimum consumption of environmental resources.
Code of ethics
With Corporate project “Ethics and Compliance” Artemide wanted to confirm its efforts as a company of ethics and social responsibility.
The Identity of Our group is historically based upon Values that through the years have been pursued and absorbed by all of us; the same values that have made possible the enrichment and consolidate our “company culture”.
The together of rules from which our company values grow is clearly normative in order to prevent wrong doings, they have been formalized in the company organizational structure, in which the ethics code is the core , recently adopted by the administrative council of Artemide S.P.A.
The ethical code is diffused in a way the makes it available to all Artemide employees.
Each individual is reminded of the personal responsibility to which he has been entrusted with, in order to ensure a normative process.
