The photovoltaic system
The General SOLAR PV photovoltaic system uses the technology of thin-film triple-junction amorphous silicon solar cells, an innovative choice compared to traditional mono and polycrystalline silicon systems.
Thin-film Amorphous Silicon is the technology of the future, given its fields of application and performance.
In this technology, the blue, green and red components of the solar spectrum are absorbed in different layers of the cell (see image to the side).
Thanks to these layers, the cells produce energy even with indirect solar radiation, with diffused light and low solar irradiation levels.
This is the solution for a higher yield (kWh per kWp installed) of the system, which operates in any weather condition. The photovoltaic cells are light, but above all they are flexible.

The General SOLAR PV System can generate electricity on both flat or sloping roofs and roofs with a variable geometry (new or existing ones). Stopping water is the mission that has always distinguished General Membrane, today capturing the sun has been added.
General SOLAR PV is a highly innovative product for the continuous waterproofing sector: a waterproof photovoltaic system for producing clean electricity that becomes an integral part of the roof – whether they may be existing, new or restored ones – it is easy to apply and has a high energy yield.
It is an integrated, unique solution that covers the essential requirements of a roof: high quality waterproofing, thermal insulation in compliance with current standards, hygrometric balance and efficient production of electricity.
All in just one product that can be applied like a normal waterproofing polymer bitumen membrane, without the supporting structures required for traditional mono or poly-crystalline silicon systems and without puncturing the waterproofing layer.
The system is also particularly suited for re-roofing, even when roofs contain asbestos fibre-cement.
THE WATERPROOF SYSTEM

Indeed General SOLAR PV is a waterproof system that exclusively uses Phoenix Solar waterproofing membranes with a 20-year warranty and made with special top-quality polymer modifiers capable of resisting wear and high operating temperatures over time.
The system is fastened to the roof by mechanically fastening the intermediate layers and thanks to the fully-bonded installation of the waterproofing membranes in order to guarantee high resistance to wind-uplift over time.
The envisaged thermal insulators are designed to guarantee technical features that are suitable for this type of application. In the waterproof system it is also possible to insert CUT FIRE, an active protection against external fire that prevents the problem of fires ignited on roofs by external phenomena.

General Membrane’s Technical Photovoltaic Department examines the system of the specific roof – this is specified in detailed Supply and Installation Specifications – for the needs of each individual project: new roof, re-roofing, hot roof, cold roof, asbestos fibre-cement remediation and this also allows meeting energy-saving needs in accordance with current standards.
