UNIBOX E BV

“Unibox E BV” for underfloor heating systems for individual room temperature control.

Tender specification:
Oventrop “Unibox E BV” for underfloor heating systems for individual room temperature control.
Max. working temperature of the valve: 100°C
Max. working pressure: 10 bar

The maximum permissible underfloor heating temperature has to be taken into consideration when designing the underfloor heating system.

Max. differential pressure: 1 bar
Depth: 57 mm

Installation set “Unibox E BV” for individual room temperature control of underfloor heating systems without central distributor/ collector via a thermostatic valve consisting of valve, wall box unit, cover plate with thermostat and isolating block for the following functions:

  • room temperature control without auxiliary energy
  • improved comfort owing to bypass
  • isolation
  • hydronic balancing
  • draining, bleeding, flushing

The individual bypass can be adjusted according to the heat supplies utilised from other heat sources (preset at works to 25%). It serves to:

  • limit the minimum surface temperature
  • reduce floor temperature fluctuations between heating and non-heating periods
  • react quickly to temperature fluctuations when the weather changes
  • improve the “self-regulating effect” by maintaining a more constant floor temperature

Function:
Oventrop “Unibox E BV” for underfloor heating systems, dividing the heating water flow into a thermostatically controlled partial flow and an adjustable partial flow, thus guaranteeing a basic heat load.
By using the “Unibox E BV” it is ensured, that varying other heat sources will be utilised in reducing heat loss on an individual room basis, e.g. sunlight, electrical appliances etc.

At the same time, maximum comfort is achieved by minimally limiting the floor surface temperature. A complete cooling down of the floor is avoided if the heat from other sources is very high. Due to the constant flow volume in the bypass, the surface temperature changes in proportion to the outside temperature.

This permanent basic heat load which is guaranteed by the bypass, does not only reduce temperature fluctuations of the floor surface, but increasingly supports the “self-regulating effect” when the temperature changes and minimises the inertia of the underfloor heating system.

The adjustable partial flow rate which is thermostatically controlled, corresponds to the maximum possible heat proportion supplied by other heat sources in individual rooms.
When installing several installation sets “Unibox E BV” in an underfloor heating system, hydronic balancing of the individual heating circuits is carried out.

Setting of the total heating water flow rate which is required to cover the heat load of the room, is carried out at the regulating insert.
The basic heat load proportion (preset at works to 25%) for each room is to be set and adapted individually by the user.

Application:
The “Unibox E BV” can be installed as a “room by room” regulating device for underfloor heating systems in any building. The “Unibox E BV” is installed in the supply pipe of every room and allows a local setting which is at the same point where measurements are carried out, therefore it requires no auxiliary energy.

This kind of thermostatic control is especially advantageous if it is used in systems where a central distributor/collector cannot be installed because of required space and in hallways in which an uncontrolled heat output of the supply pipes of the distributor/collector towards the room cannot be accepted.

Moreover, it is installed where a proven, mechanical control without auxiliary energy, maintenance, electromagnetic and radio radiation is desired. The bypass function guaranteeing maximum comfort can be compared to an additional floor sensor of electric room controls.
